Katie Lewis

For Katie, Yoga has been what she describes as a life saver. Taking her first class at the age of 10, her practice has been an ebb and flow, resurfacing in her life when she needed it most in times of struggle and chaos. She finally realized the importance of having a constant practice and how cultivating this connection with herself allowed her to begin to heal, not only physically but mentally and spiritually. After years of teaching children she knew she had to blend her love of yoga and teaching to bring this healing art to as many individuals as she could. As a Yoga Instructor with a background in Human Development, Katie is a firm believer in meditation, patience and mindfulness and their positive effects on individuals and families. Katie earned her B.S. in Human Development and her B.A. in Philosophy from Virginia Tech. She received her RYT-200 hour certification from Prana Yoga Center in La Jolla, CA with Gerhard Gessner, who has studied with Sri K. Patthabi Jois, B.K.S. Iyengar, Tim Miller, and many more. Katie is a lover of knowledge and has continued her education with a certification in Restorative Yoga under Shauna McKay RYT-500 and C-IAYT, as well as a certification for The Yoga Wall for a healthy back with Dr. Alison Mclean DPT, HHP, ERYT, C-IAYT and Elia Nikolaev; and she continues to participate in workshops to further her skills. Currently she is working on receiving her certificate in Yoga Therapy from Dr. Alison Mclean and Elia Nikolaev. Her philosophy on yoga is that it is for every body and her passion is guiding individuals to find their own spiritual venture to help better themselves and live their best life. She one day hopes to open a non-profit for at-risk youth and juvenile delinquents to experience the healing powers of yoga and meditation combined with music, art, sports, and nature.
